Rams Open as Favorites Against 49ers

The Los Angeles Rams are favorites to win a football game. This is odd.

The line opened with the Rams as 2.5 point favorites and moved to 4 points when the 49ers put Quinton Patton and Jimmie Ward on injured reserve earlier this week.

What’s just as interesting to me is the over/under being set at 47 prior to being moved to 40. Sometimes I struggle with my maths, but with the total being 40 and the Rams at -4, that means the experts are pegging a 22-18 Rams victory.

The last time the Rams scored 22 points? All the way back in week 6 against the Detroit Lions. They hit 21 against the New Orleans Saints, but other than that rare offensive explosion they haven’t scored more than 14 since week 6 either.

Maybe it’s because the idea of the Rams as favorites right now is foreign to me... But despite the 49ers having lost 13 straight after shutting out the Rams in week 1, this has the feeling of a game that the Rams will find a way to disappoint.

Here’s hoping I’m wrong.
