Per Sam Farmer of the LA Times (link to the LA Times which has a monthly quota, so click at your own need), former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders Head Coach Jon Gruden, brother of Washington Ballmen Head Coach Jay Gruden, “would listen” to an offer from the Rams:
Those close to Gruden have indicated he would listen to a Rams pitch, however, and that he might be interested in a return to coaching after seven years as color analyst for ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.” He knows quarterbacks, turned around a dead-in-the-water Oakland Raiders franchise and won a Super Bowl in Tampa Bay at the end of the 2002 season (by beating his former Raiders team).
It’s worth noting that Gruden and Kevin Demoff, the Rams’ top executive, worked together with the Buccaneers.
As I said on a Facebook Live show (is it a show? What the hell is this? Someone send me a 2016 internet dictionary) tonight, the Rams’ head coaching search is a hallway. Every candidate is a door. Those candidates’ needs are the lock. And the Rams’ pitch is a key.
There are a hell of a lot of doors. Jon Gruden, improbable or perhaps unbelievable as it might be, is one of them. That any source close to him is suggesting he’s willing to see if the key fits?
Gonna be a long couple of months, fam.
