Going into Week 9, the Los Angeles Rams had just five names on the final injury report: DT Michael Brockers, G Jamon Brown, CB Trumaine Johnson, DE William Hayes and WR Nelson Spruce.
Starting this week? Subtract Brown and Hayes...and add two new names:
Los Angeles Rams
CB Lamarcus Joyner was a likely addition given his temporary departure from Sunday’s loss to the Panthers as he dealt with the injury.
RB Just Todd Gurley though? That’s new. Normally, losing a player on the talent level of Gurley would be cause for major concern. Given that he is averaging less than 60 yards per game though, it’s hard to suggest that losing Gurley would be a major loss for the Rams at least as far as the current offense is constructed and being implemented.
It’s worth noting that assuming this follows convention, this report follows today’s second practice of the week and does not correspond with the first practice from yesterday. So we have no idea if these players were all absent on Tuesday as well or when certain injuries were aggravated and to what degree.
Tomorrow’s hypothetical injury report will be a waste of effort and time. We look forward to sharing it with you.
Here’s the New York Jets’ side of the report:
New York Jets
That’s a lengthy, deep injury report that only serves to remind Rams fans how healthy our team has been. That’s 15 Jets with injury concerns, though it’s fair to wonder why WR Brandon Marshall and OT Brent Qvale were on it. This after the Jets put starting left tackle Ryan Clady on IR, their eighth player on injured reserve.
Nonetheless, we’ve got two days to go and plenty of movement to come. For an initial injury report to add Gurley and go as deep as they did for the Jets, it’s definitely something we’ll need to keep tabs on this week (at least for the Jets; the Rams, only for Friday).
