Late though I was to get the Wednesday injury report up, today’s hypothetical intermediate injury report is, per usual, a waste of time from your Los Angeles Rams:
Los Angeles Rams |
||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Name | POS | Injury | Wed. Status | Thu. Status |
Michael Brockers | DT | Groin | Limited | Limited |
Jamon Brown | G | Hand | Limited | Limited |
Trumaine Johnson | CB | Ankle | Limited | Limited |
William Hayes | DE | Ankle | DNP | DNP |
Nelson Spruce | WR | Calf | DNP | DNP |
Yeah.
Bear in mind that this report “is an estimation of participation as it was a players' day off.” So the team estimates that nobody got healthier and nobody would have gotten injured.
Yay. This, instead of a report that matches the Tuesday practice in which Trumaine Johnson and Michael Brockers did not participate followed by a report that would have showed both improving to “limited” status followed by Friday’s final report. This...”estimation.” Look, if the Rams don’t care and the NFL doesn’t care, then fine. So be it. But the fact that this is a requirement suggests there is some need for these reports, either for the media or for fans or a combination of the two. Perverting this process to put this as the output insults whatever audience it’s intended for.
In any case, here’s Carolina’s actual Thursday report which is of actual value:
Carolina Panthers |
||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Name | POS | Injury | Wed. Status | Thu. Status |
Kurt Coleman | S | Thumb | Full | Full |
Charles Johnson | DE | Rest | DNP | Full |
Robert McClain | CB | Groin | DNP | Full |
James Bradberry | CB | Foot | Limited | Full |
Mario Addison | DE | Groin | - | DNP |
Luke Kuechly | LB | Groin | - | DNP |
Daryl Worley | CB | Elbow | Limited | DNP |
Vernon Butler | DT | Ankle | DNP | DNP |
Ryan Kalil | C | Shoulder | DNP | DNP |
Michael Oher | T | Concussion | DNP | DNP |
Jonathan Stewart | RB | Rest | DNP | DNP |
Shaq Thompson | LB | Knee | DNP | DNP |
So you’ve got a trio upgraded to full status in DE Charles Johnson, CB Robert McClain and CB James Bradberry. Meanwhile, CB Daryl Worley is downgraded having apparently suffered the injury on Wednesday. That could be a big deal as Worley is a starter in Carolina’s secondary which is nowhere near as talented as their front seven.
The bigger news is the addition of Pro Bowl MLB Luke Kuechly. No word on the severity of the groin issue that landed him on the report.
Check back tomorrow as the Rams release an accurate injury report following their final practice of the week and we’ll get an update on Kuechly and Co.
