It is time.
#3 Michigan (10-1) at #2 Ohio State (10-1) - 12:00pm ET, ABC
Going into the season, there was no prospect I wanted more for the Los Angeles Rams’ future than Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers. He’s played himself well beyond the Rams’ first pick, wherever it comes in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
TE Jake Butt might still be there though, and if the Rams were to release TE Lance Kendricks to free up some future cap space Butt would certainly be an attractive candidate if he falls into the second.
And I’m not a big fan of Michigan’s WR corps from an NFL standpoint, but Amara Darboh and Jehu Chesson are going to have fans.
Kyle Kalis is going to be a dark horse for interior linemen, so keep him stashed in your folder.
For OSU, there’s a ton that matches up with the Rams. S Malik Hooker. WR Curtis Samuel. C Pat Elflein. G Billy Price. And that’s all before the end of Day 2.
Overall as someone who isn’t drawn to either side as a fan, I’m just glad this rivalry is back as a top tier matchup.
#13 Auburn (8-3) at #1 Alabama (11-0) - 3:30pm ET, CBS
Iron Bowl. Yes please.
I’ve talked about Alabama’s prospects plenty, but Auburn isn’t without talent coming up the pipeline. One to track will be DE Carl Lawson. He should go before the Rams’ first pick pushing better fitting talent down to us. And this will be a perfect day to get a feel for G Braden Smith. If he can hold up at times (because let’s be fair) against Bama’s ridiculous defensive front in any aspect, that should help him out in the draft process as a potential third-rounder.
But yeah, don’t expect perfect tape from any Tiger today.
South Carolina (6-5) at #4 Clemson (10-1) - 7:30pm ET, ESPN
From a college and an NFL standpoint, this is all about Clemson.
As the last team in the playoff four right now (which is bound to change with either Michigan or OSU taking a loss today), Clemson might well have to win to stay in. And they’ll certainly have the talent to do it with QB DeShaun Watson leading the way as a potential #1 overall pick next spring. Rams fans will need to get a look at WR Mike Williams. If he falls to the second, he’s certainly going to be a very attractive target.
Good stuff today. Let’s get it.
