The Los Angeles Rams have officially placed undrafted wide receiver Nelson Spruce on injury reserve thus ending any cance of the rookie making an impact this season:
The Rams put WR Nelson Spruce on injured reserve. DB Blake Countess added from practice sqaud. DE Larry Jones was signed to practice squad.

Spruce only saw action in the preseason opener, but his six receptions, 51 receiving yards and touchdown left a mark on the team and fans hoping to have a solid receiver.
In the game, he suffered a knee injury which prevented him from playing during the rest of the preseason. The Rams nonetheless decided to keep him on the initial 53-man roster to begin the 2016 Regular Season. But, he would also suffer a calf injury which has kept him shelved since coming out of the bye week.
The Rams appear to have liked Spruce enough to have kept him on the roster for as many weeks as they did. Of course, he will have to battle for a roster spot next season.
Filling his roster spot is rookie CB Blake Countess coming out of Auburn after transferring from Michigan. Countess was a sixth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft for the Philadelphia Eagles, though he didn’t make the cut. The Rams scooped him up on the practice squad soon after.
He comes off the Rams’ practice squad opening a slot for DE Larry Jones.
