TST Interview With Marshall Faulk

As my fellow TST colleague Derrik Klassen – aka QBKlass – mentioned, Courtyard Hotels is holding a Super Bowl LI Sleepover Contest where the lucky winner will get the opportunity to sleep (yes, sleep) and wake up at the site of Super Bowl LI – NRG Stadium in Houston. As part of Courtyard Hotels’ contest, TST was invited to have a sleepover and cocktail party with former Rams great and Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk.

Yep, that Marshall. The man many Rams fans remember under the Superman moniker given to him as part of the Greatest Show on Turf.

That moniker was rightfully earned. Faulk is a 7x Pro Bowl selection, a 3x offensive player of the year, 3x All-Pro selection, and a two-time MVP. Marshall is also one of the three NFL players with more than 10,000 rushing yards and 5,000 receiving yards (Marcus Allen and Tiki Barber). He is the only player to have amassed 12,000 rushing yards and 6,000 rushing yards.

TST also had the opportunity to sit down with Faulk for a quick chat while mingling at the Courtyard Marriott.

On the current state of the Rams running game:

Well, it is still early in the season. Gurley is still a young guy. He is learning the league, he is learning the guys up front.

If Gurley has regressed any this season:

No, I do not think so. He’s a young guy. He is still learning how to be patient and letting this unfold in front of him. The league saw what he did last year and they have tape on him.

Which current running back he sees himself in:

Pittsburgh Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell. It is just about running smart. Arizona Cardinals’ David Johnson is also a guy I see a little bit of myself in. Both are young guys that are running smart.
