LA Rams At Detroit Lions: Live Open Thread

Never has the possibility of .500 felt so ominous...

The 3-2 Los Angeles Rams are taking on a 2-3 Detroit Lions team with a huge narrative on the line.

If the Rams are able to get the win heading into Week 7 in London at 4-2, the season offers huge potential. If the Lions win this game...I don't remember a possible .500 record feeling so gloomy.

Dropping two games back-to-back after starting 3-1 would signal the kind of impotence we've seen so often in recent years. It's just not something you can excuse.

So is this a must-win? Perhaps, if you want to look at it like that.

Here's how I'd frame this.

Jeff Fisher has his #1 overall draft pick QB on the bench. The Rams' next pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, TE Tyler Higbee, isn't being used in the passing game. The Rams' following pick, WR Pharoh Cooper, is a healthy scratch.

The Rams aren't playing for now. They're playing for...well, I don't know when. But it's not now. So until we get to that point? We're not in must-win territory.

Maybe that kind of environment lacking the pressure to win is what actually helps the Rams succeed.

Just maybe.
