2016 College Football Week 7 Live Thread, Streaming, TV Info

Two top 10 battles populate an otherwise unspectacular Saturday schedule. Perfect day for NFL Draft watching.

It’s a relatively soft schedule in Week 7 of the 2016 college football season today. You’ve got three games between ranked teams, two of which feature top ten teams:

#1 Alabama (6-0) at #9 Tennessee (5-1) - 3:30pm ET, CBS

Big narrative here.

Bama is on a three-game run at Tennessee, at home for #6 Texas A&M and then on the road at LSU. If they can get through those, they’ve got two soft weeks before the Iron Bowl against #23 Auburn and then the SEC Chamionship. That’s one hell of a gauntlet.

As for the Vols, they’ve played with fire all season underwhelming in first halves before coming back in the back end of games to get the win...until last week. There’s no question Tennessee have the talent to compete with anyone. And had they avoided seven turnovers last week (no, seriously), they probably could have beaten A&M at Kyle Field.

Draft-wise, there’s a TON here. Easy pick in this block.

#12 Ole Miss (3-2) at #22 Arkansas (4-2) - 7:00pm ET, ESPN

Recommend taking a break from SEC football after Bama-UT, but you’re craving ranked football before the big night game, you can get this in.

There’s a fair bit of talent that would make sense for the Rams here. It’s just a bit hard to parse the needs for the Rams heading toward 2017. Their 2016 NFL Draft class has barely factored. Sure, we can take QB off, but what about TE? WR? How about RB? Where on defense do the Rams re-stock? It might be the hardest year to set up a needs list since 2011.

That being said, Arkansas OT Dan Skipper is a large human. You wonder if he warrants a depth pick with a chance to grow into playing time a la Andrew Donnal.

For Ole Miss, the roster is stronger draft-wise. QB Chad Kelly is the best NFL-style quarterback for 2016. I think there’s a first-round argument for TE Evan Engram. OLB Marquis Haynes is a name I think we’ll see pop up for the Rams in the second round. Plenty of late draft options as well. If we’re still looking to strengthen the WR corps late, Damore'ea Stringfellow is someone we’ll have to look into.

#2 Ohio State (5-0) at #8 Wisconsin (4-1) - 8:00pm ET, ABC

Wisconsin has really impressed this year despite a talent deficit.

No such issues for tOSU. There’s just so much talent from the Buckeyes. If they can get through today, October should be a walk. November’s tougher though. They start the month off against #10 Nebraska, then road games against Maryland and Michigan State before the big one. If both Ohio State and Michigan head into November 26th undefeated...that’s about as big as non-playoff college football could possibly be.
