The Rams are letting the contracts of five coaches expire without renewal this offseason:
- Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach Adam Bailey (since 2011)
- Assistant Special Team Coach Paul F. Boudreau (since 2012)
- Offensive Assistant Jeff Garcia (since 2015)
- Wide Receivers Coach Ray Sherman (since 2012)
- Running Backs Coach Ben Sirmans (since 2012)
It's a major offensive shakeup that follows the firing of Frank Cignetti, Jr., as offensive coordinator (and subsequent promotion of Rob Boras) back on Dec. 7. It also follows a season that saw the Rams finish 32nd in total yards per game, 32nd in passing yards per game, 29th in points per game (despite four touchdowns coming from the defense and special teams), 32nd in third down conversion %, 32nd in fourth down conversion % and 32nd in first downs.
So far, the only news of any potential incoming coaches to the staff was the report that the Rams are seeking to interview Cleveland Browns Offensive Coordinator John DeFilippo.
Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher offered the following official statement following the team news:
We appreciate all of the hard work and dedication each of our coaches have given to the organization. We wish them well in their future endeavors.
