The Rams have had a bevy of high draft picks in the past 10 years. The never ending 6-7 win seasons under Jeff Fisher tell you that most of those draft picks were busts. Chris Long is the exception to the rules that have mired the Rams in mediocrity.
With the 2nd pick of the 2008 Draft, the Rams drafted a world class tweeter, a human rights activist (+1), practical jokester, and a tremendous emotional leader willing to put team needs first. Oh... and he's a pretty good defensive end too.
Prior to being injured the past few seasons, Long was a dominant DE equally capable of rushing the passer and stuffing the run. He has accumulated 54.5 sacks and 194 tackles in his tenure with the Rams. Those stats are no joke, but it's his contributions as a member of the community and as a teammate that put him on this list.
Long has been the heart and soul of some very bad Rams teams and has shown time and time again that he's willing to accommodate the needs of the organization. The Rams were lucky to be able to draft him in 2008. Hopefully the Rams value his leadership and prioritize his long term future with the team.
