Among the many misses the Rams had in the 2000s, the 2006 draft stands out as particularly horrid. The Rams selected Joe Klopfenstein in the 2nd round (46th Overall) in that draft. Some thought he would be the next Jeremy Shockey after his tremendous combine workout. He couldn't have failed more spectactularly.
'Klop' finished his Rams tenure with 33 Receptions for 386 yards and 2 TDs.... and was out of the NFL a year later. He would likely be ranked higher on most other teams lists of draft busts, but the the Rams were just that abysmal at drafting during their time in St. Louis.
Notable Pro-Bowl players selected after Klop in the 2nd round of the 2006 draft include: Greg Jennings, Devin Hester, and Maurice Jones Drew. Elvis Dumervil, Cortland Finnegan, and Marques Colston were selected in later rounds.
It goes without saying the Rams whiffed big on this pick. But a flop this big at #10 should give you an idea of what is in store for the rest of the top 10.
