Los Angeles Rams DE Chris Long Open To Pay Cut

With multiple contract decisions looming all across the defense, could restructuring Chris Long's contract make things easier for the Rams' front office? Long says he's open to doing do.

I'm not a guy that, I mean, the last two years I have been paid more than I've performed. That's just the bottom line. It's a business. Sometimes teams win and sometimes teams lose with that stuff so you're certainly not rushing to give the money you earned back. You can't control certain things with injuries and such but of course I'm open to doing something like that. It's not about the money at this point for me.

Give that whole piece a read over at Nick Wagoner's Rams blog at ESPN. It's a solid read up on the #2 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft (hard to believe it's been that long).

It's hard to put into words just how professional Chris Long is. He's been through nothing but losing seasons in his eight years with the Rams and didn't miss a game in the first six of those. And his charitable efforts with his Waterboys Initiative are the kind of thing that transcends PR and actually makes a very, very positive and profound impact on people's lives. So it's tough to even consider him playing for any other team besides the Rams.

And unsurprisingly he still wants to be with the Rams.

I love my coaches, I love my teammates here. If there's a way to make it work where I'm needed here and it works out, that would be great.

It's hard not to root for this to get capped with a happy ending.
