St. Louis Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks: Visitors Favored By More Than A Field Goal

The Rams are the underdog going into Sunday's Week 1 matchup by a significant margin.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Here we go.

The St. Louis Rams will kick off the 2015 NFL Regular Season against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in the Edward Jones Dome. Despite the home field advantage, the Rams opened as 4.5 point underdogs, though the money has shaved a half point off of that.

The Rams have had a tough, tough decade against the Seahawks (well, a tough decade in general, but let's be specific here...). Since the 2005 season, the Rams are 3-17 against the Seahawks, including a 10-game losing streak at the outset.

The last three years, all of the Russel Wilson era, though, have been much more competitive. The two teams split in 2012 and last year with Seattle taking both in 2013. The real issue in recent years has been (stop me if you've heard it before) is the ineptitude of the Rams' offense, even against one of the league's best defenses in the Legion of Boom. In the last nine games, the Rams have scored more than 20 points just once: last year's Week 7 28-26 win. More uninspiringly, the offense scored less than 10 points five times of the last nine, and three of the last four, Rams-Seahawks matchups including last year's season-ending 6-20 loss in Seattle.

So it's worth keeping that in mind both with the oddsmakers' view of the game and the team's approach to the season opener.
