For Rams fans, that first half may have been largely about the debut of Just Todd Gurley. On substance though, it was about an offense struggling to develop any consistency and a defense that settled in after the first two drives despite the lack of a supporting offense.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is 15/18 for 151 yards but wasn't able to get into the endzone and threw a pretty unadvisable pass that was intercepted by Rams CB Janoris Jenkins. Those first two drives though put up a field goal and a touchdown for the Steelers, missing the 2-point conversion.
The Rams pockmarked the half with some offense, but the lack of a running game stalled much of what might be put out there from the playbook. Tre Mason rushed 6 times for 19 yards, Just Todd Gurley (#JTG) 3 for 2. Without any running game to work off of, Nick Foles has a tough task. He's been smart with the ball going 9 for 11 if nothing else.
A failed fake punt from Johnny Hekker could've helped polish things up.
In the end, the Rams have to get the ground game going if they're going to compete in this one.
