The Rams have another closed special teams practice today, a valuable shift after yesterday's full team scrimmage at Lindenwood University. The staff will get a chance at filling in some cracks as they begin turning their attention toward next Friday's preseason opener in Oakland (full practice and preseason schedule available here).
Offensive Line
Demetrius Rhaney did indeed get his scheduled rotation into the starting line last night. Assuming there are no changes, Tim Barnes will be with the first team today. Meanwhile, after Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher offered support for the line's lack of penalties in camp, it was back to Rams football last night. Get it sorted out, boys.
Injuries
S Maurice Alexander, WR Kenny Britt, CB E.J. Gaines, RB Todd Gurley, DE Chris Long, RB Tre Mason, CB Brandon McGee, LB Korey Toomer, G Cody Wichmann and DT Doug Worthington were all out yesterday. The running back hole gave Isaiah Pead some time as the starting RB, and he didn't do poorly with his limited time there. The Rams have three more practices after today before a two-day break to head to Oakland, so there's not a ton of opportunity to rest up outside of holding guys out.
Rookies
Not a ton to update here, but RT Rob Havenstein and RG Jamon Brown continue to improve. They might be the biggest draw for Rams fans on Friday against the Raiders to see how they do at full speed.
Defense
The defense continues to make things difficult for the offense, especially the secondary. Without the complement of a full bore pass rush, it's a good sign that the cornerbacks and safeties are in tune this early.
Stay tuned, and let us know what you're seeing online.
