With the deadline to get down to 75 players looming tomorrow, the Rams announced a dozen moves this afternoon. In addition to placing E.J. Gaines on IR, the team released WR Damian Williams and waived 10 other players.
Most of these moves are pretty par for the course as far as what fans expected. There are a few things worth noting however.
The removal of two offensive tackles from the roster seems to indicate that the Rams are happy with what they have at the bookend positions. It's been clear for a while that Rob Havenstein and Greg Robinson are in line to start, but this eliminates any notion that the Rams will carry 5 OTs. They will hold onto big Rob and G-Rob along with Isaiah Battle and Garrett Reynolds. They also have Rodger Saffold as an emergency plan if things get desperate along the OL.
The other surprise was seeing Claiborne among the first round of cuts. He had a pick vs the Raiders and seemed to play well enough for a shot at the final DB spot on the roster. He may still be under consideration for the practice squad.
It's worth noting that Daniel Rodriguez remains on the roster as well, though that is likely a temporary arrangement.
These moves leave the Rams with a 78 Man roster meaning that they still have 3 more moves to make before the deadline tomorrow.
