A week ago, the Rams released their first unofficial depth chart ahead of the trip to Oakland to open the 2015 preseason. With the weekend news that CB E.J. Gaines will miss the season with a foot injury, the Rams made the according moves on the depth chart to replace him.
Trumaine Johnson steps into Gaines' starting slot with Lamarcus Joyner moving up to the #2 spot at LCB. The other spots remain.
Gaines' injury makes things a bit more complicated as the Rams settle out the roster. The Rams carried six cornerbacks on their 53-man roster to start 2014: Gaines, Johnson, Joyner, Janoris Jenkins, Marcus Roberson and Brandon McGee. Assuming those five make the cut again, that open spot would then be up for competition between UDFAs Jay Hughes, Imoan Claiborne and Trovon Reed.
The Rams have two weeks to get down to 75-man roster on Sept. 1. The 53-man comes later that week on Sept. 5.
