Rams adding Jeff Garcia to staff as offensive assistant.
— Jim Thomas (@jthom1) May 20, 2015
You may remember back in February as the Rams were putting together their offensive staff that Jeff Garcia was interviewed for the vacant QB coach position. Frank Cignetti, Jr., had just been promoted to offensive coordinator and TE coach Rob Boras got a bump up as well, but the QB coach position remained unfilled.
Roughly a week after the Garcia interview, the Rams went with Chris Weinke for the QB coach gig. Apparently though, Fisher came away impressed enough with Garcia to offer him a spot on the staff.
All in all, it's shaping up to be a pretty complete overhaul on the offensive side. QB Sam Bradford is gone. Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is gone. Four of the five 2014 week 1 offensive linemen are gone. And now with the coaching changes shuffling things up, you've got some significant change among who didn't get axed along with the new hires.
2015 will tell us if this is just window dressing for Fisher's offense or if the changes of the last four months have served up a course correction for an offense that badly needed one.
