2015 TST Community NFL Mock Draft: Atlanta Finally Takes Williams Off the Board

It took us 8 picks, but BaldBilly finally gets arguably the best overall prospect in the draft:

#8, Atlanta Falcons - Leonard Williams (DT, USC)

The Atlanta Falcons come into this draft in desperate need of an edge pass rusher…but the consensus top two players at that position (Vic Beasley and Randy Gregory) are gone after the first 7 selections. The likely favorite for Head Coach Dan Quinn, Dante Fowler (who Quinn recruited and coached at Florida) is gone as well. The Falcons pass on Shane Ray as the best player available from a need standpoint, and instead take what many consider to be the best player overall in the entire draft…Defensive Tackle from USC…Leonard Williams. Williams will team with Ra’Shede Hageman and Paul Soliai to create one of the best Defensive Tackle rotations in the NFL.

It kinda justifies this whole process, but this community mock has kind of opened my eyes on the potential of Williams dropping this far. It's not about skills or stock or talent. It's about fit and need. Honestly, I could see him sliding here to with the pass rush need BaldBilly alluded to. In the SBN Blogger Mock, Randy Gregory was still available and was an easy pick. I wonder if one of the premier edge pass rushers is available as well as Williams, could Williams drop to the Giants at 9th overall?

I can't bring myself to speculate beyond that, because the idea of the Rams taking Williams at 10 is just too Jeff Fisher and I won't bring that reality to bear for all of us. We don't deserve that.
