2015 NFL Draft: Strong Safety

The draft is in just a couple hours and that means it's time to wrap up our positional countdown.

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Firstly, this is an alright class of strong safeties. Landon Collins has slid down in value over the last few months transitioning from a likely top ten to just a likely first rounder, but the class survives nonetheless. Ibraheim Campbell and Jaquiski Tartt are two solid prospects who will make nice additions to whatever respective teams select them.

So, without further ado, let's check the ranks.

Player 1st Choices 2nd Choices 3rd  Choices
Landon Collins 6 0 0
Ibraheim Campbell 0 3 1
Jaquiski Tartt 0 1 4
Gerod Holliman 0 1 0
Eric Rowe 0 0 1
Jordan Richards 0 0 1

The story here seems to be that there's a clear line drawn. Landon Collins tops the chart, Campbell is a clear second and Tartt owns third. Collins is the only player to unanimously take first in one of our polls; not even Jameis Winston did so.

However, the only seemingly-relevant debate to be had about the strong safeties this year, since it doesn't seem the Rams will take one, is if one eats up a spot before the Rams' tenth pick. Every non-receiver, non-lineman chosen before the Rams counts -- let's hope a team decides on Landon Collins! Potential landing spots include the Jets and Bears, but I would say the Bears are the most likely of any team to select him, if he went before the Rams. Be on the lookout for that.

So, thoughts? Will Collins go top ten? Will someone sneak upon him and grab that first SS selection from right underneath him? Comment below and vote in the poll!
