Not quite the usual presser -St. Louis Rams
The vast majority of pressers can be safely skipped. Team did really well today, I am proud of them. They really put in the effort. Player really stepped up and gave everything. Player is a young kid with a lot of potential...blah, blah, blah.
This one is a bit different, especially if you read a tad between the lines.
For starters, the word "need" is used a very great deal. That alone is interesting, but then the words "offensive line" start getting mixed in with the word "need" until they become virtually synonymous. Along the way, a few specifics get thrown out and scattered about by the wind-
1. OT Joe Barksdale is a real possibility to be back in the Horns
2. Les and Jeff are looking at offensive lineman who have taken a lot of snaps in college, so start doing the math.
3. Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota get referred to as "due diligence"
4. Jeff Fisher only smiles when the talk turns to defensive players.
5. The Rams are probably not looking for a quarterback who ran a spread offense in college.
6. Les Snead is the James Dean of general managers.
Five possibilities at pick number ten -101 Sports
This is a very good breakdown of five different and very likely scenarios that could effect the Rams first overall pick.
Garret Grayson top QB of the 2015 NFL draft class? -NFL
It's debatable (hell, what isn't?) but I predict Grayson will be the most successful quarterback of this draft class.
LSU's La'el Collins wanted for questioning, in death of woman -Yahoo
As already reported by TST's own EddieP, the potential top ten (and of course, potential Ram), La'el Collins, is wanted for questioning only. He is not a suspect in the murder of pregnant Brittany Mills.
It is not clear is Collins is the father of Mills' baby, who is still receiving medical treatment. Some NFL teams are aware of the incident and are trying to gather more information.
According to the Baton Rouge Advocate, investigators believe based a preliminary investigation that Mills opened the door of her house to someone who wanted to use her car. When she refused, police believe, she was shot multiple times.
Smokescreens? -NFL
Tis the season for smokescreens alright...avoidance, obfuscation and outright lying are the order of the day. The NFL team looks at four that they ain't buyin'
Draft Prospect, DE Anthony Chickillo, Miami
Draft Prospect, TE Maxx Williams, Minnesota
Draft Prospect, ILB Hayes Pullard, Southern California
Los Angeles licking it's chops at who may be their next relocatee -LA Times
It's hard to read this article and not think, "Gee, this writer is looking at future residence of Los Angeles...now who do I want?"
The Seahawks have the most picks in the 2015 draft...be afraid -Field Gulls
Love 'em or hate 'em (hate), the Seahawks have a habit of getting the most from late round picks and with 11 of them, Seattle just might crush the next few days, though likely it will take a year or two, before everyone sees that. It is interesting that they don't pick at all (barring a trade) until nearly the third round.
Random Predictions!
I have about a 50/50 record on predictions...no, let's face it, 10/90 if I am lucky, nevertheless here are my predictions for the upcoming draft-
1. Philadelphia, Tennessee, St. Louis, NY Jets and Cleveland will not pick at their currently assigned positions. Up, down or all around, these teams won't sit still come Thursday.
2. Colorado State's quarterback, Garrett Grayson will come off the board in the second round.
3. The Rams will take a defensive end
4. If Mariota or Winston is still available at pick number six overall, Mike Maccagnan will give himself an infarction in his rush to turn in his card.
5. No matter how much the Rams fan faithful hated on a particular player, they will instantly love him, when his name is called out by Roger Goodell.
So there you have it, my not-so-bold predictions for the 2015 NFL draft. As I know you will anyway- hold me accountable!
And now? On to the tune-age!
