If you forgot to circle it on your calendar when the offseason schedule dropped at the beginning of the month, Phase One of the official NFL offseason schedule begins today for the Rams. Again, here's their calendar heading into training camp:
First Day: April 20
OTA Offseason Workouts: June 2, June 4-5, June 8-9, June 11, June 15-16, June 18-19
Mandatory Minicamp: None
Since today is a kickoff of sorts, MLB James Laurinaitis and TE Jared Cook will both be speaking to media to cover the offseason program; Cook's up at 11am St. Louis-time followed by JL55 at 12:30pm.
Per the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement, here's what's allowed in Phase One:
Phase One
- Phase One shall consist of the first two weeks of the Club's offseason workout program. Subject to the additional rules set forth in Section 5 of this Article, Phase One activities shall be limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation only.
- During Phase One, only full-time or part-time strength and conditioning coaches, who have no other coaching responsibilities with the Club, shall be allowed on the field; no other coaches shall be allowed on the field or to otherwise participate in or observe activities.
- No footballs shall be permitted to be used (only "dead ball" activities), except that quarterbacks may elect to throw to receivers provided they are not covered by any other player.
- Players cannot wear helmets during Phase One.
