2015 NFL Draft Rumors: Rams Are A Strong Possibility To Draft DeVante Parker

St. Louis was linked to the Louisville WR by Miami-based Armando Salguero.

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

With the 2015 NFL Draft only weeks away, rumors will continue to grow rapid and the latest rumor involving the St. Louis Rams has them selecting a receiver in the first round.

This information is provided by Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, it is  information that even he is not 100% about, the main thing the reporter is concerned about is if DeVante Parker will fall to the Miami Dolphins at 14. Basically there is a strong possibility according to him that the Rams or the Minnesota Vikings will draft Parker.

Drafting Parker is a realistic possibility that is not often talked about. The Rams biggest need on their team is the offensive line, but wide receiver is arguably the second biggest need that the Rams have, and Parker could be a good value pick. Also, the Rams did bring in the Louisville receiver for a visit this week.

Here is a scouting report done on Parker from NFL.com.

Parker does his best work when the ball is in the air. He uses his height and wingspan to consistently snatch anything that comes his way. Parker isn't going to overpower cornerbacks and he will have more contested catches than most explosive wideouts. He has consistently posted eye-popping yards-per-catch numbers during his time at Louisville and showed of solid athleticism at the combine. Parker has the potential to be a legitimate lead receiver for a West Coast offense.

So the question that remains is will the Rams draft Parker? We will find out in a couple of weeks, though it seems a realistic outcome.Kenny Britt is a solid veteran, but the Rams have question marks at the other receiver positions. Parker with Britt mentoring him could be a solid second option for a couple of years and then transition in to a star receiver, or a better option than the Rams have had in years.
