2015 NFL Mock Draft: St. Louis Rams Add Another Mountaineer, Quarterback in 2 Rounds

They’re going two rounds over at Mocking the Draft this morning. Who are the St. Louis Rams taking with the 10th and 41st picks?

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL draft is just over two weeks away.  And as teams continue to use free agency to round out their depth chart, their intentions for April 30th become crystal clear.  Right?

Well, there’s always one’s ability to make an educated guess.  Dan Kadar, over at Mocking the Draft, dropped an updated 2-round mock on Monday morning.

Without further ado...

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State

2. Tennessee Titans: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon

3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Dante Fowler, DE, Florida

4. Oakland Raiders: Leonard Williams, DT, USC

5. Washington Redskins: Vic Beasley, OLB/DE, Clemson

6. New York Jets: Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama

7. Chicago Bears: Danny Shelton, DT, Washington

8. Atlanta Falcons: Bud Dupree, OLB/DE, Kentucky

9. New York Giants: Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa

With Amari Cooper and Brandon Scherff, the two players most mocked to the Rams at 10, off the board, the St. Louis Rams select...

10. St. Louis Rams: Kevin White, WR, West Virginia

The Rams have really kicked the tires on the draft’s best quarterbacks, and that could be a direction indicator. Since I’m not doing trades in this mock, the attention turns to wide receiver. They’ve brought White in for a private visit, and they didn’t do it to ask about his cool dreads. White has the potential to be a high-impact wide out, assuming someone like Nick Foles can get him the ball.

White would be the third wide receiver out of West Virginia to become a Ram, joining fellow Mountaineers Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey, who were both drafted in 2013.  Mike Mayock, at NFL.com, released his updated Wide Receiver Rankings this morning, as well.  He’s got White as his top receiver, just edging Cooper due to a "higher ceiling."

In the 2nd round, with the Rams [potentially] still in dire need of offensive line help, they select...

41. St. Louis Rams: Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA

Head coach Jeff Fisher said the Rams intend on taking a quarterback in the draft, so why not the best one available? Hundley needs developing, but he has the tools.

Kadar is right about Fisher stating that he intends on taking a quarterback in the draft, and they could very well do so in the 2nd round.  Like this mock - and many others - Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota are long gone by 10.  The Rams can’t afford, like they did last year, to take a QB in the later rounds of the draft.  If they’re looking for a quarterback who could potentially challenge Foles for the starting job, or at least spell him in times of need, they’ll most likely need to look for one in the 2nd/3rd round.
