Rams Trade Sam Bradford to Eagles for Nick Foles (UPDATED)

It's happening.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

In a deal that's sure to change the course of the franchise, the Rams are trading Sam Bradford to the Eagles for Nick Foles.

The deal reportedly involves draft picks, but this is just breaking, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bradford never lived up to his billing as the #1 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, though an Offensive Rookie of the Year accolade certainly had the bar set well. Losing the last season and a half to successive ACL injuries hampered his development and put his future in full question.

Foles was a 3rd round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and played his way into the starting gig by 2013, a season in which he threw 27 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions.

Of course, the trade also ships Sam Bradford's huge contract to Philadelphia which opens some things up on the salary cap front.

More to come of course, but the St. Louis Rams are headed in an entirely new direction with a new quarterback at the helm.

Reports suggest the Rams are including their 2015 NFL Draft 2nd round pick along with Bradford for Foles. Stay tuned.

The details on the draft picks involved are all over the place. Trying to confirm what actually is included for both sides.

(UPDATED at 5:05pm)

So it's a first round pick swap included. Rams get the 20th pick in the 1st round while Eagles move up to 10 (and possibly in range to move up for Marcus Mariota). Eagles also receive a conditional 2016 NFL Draft pick from the Rams.

Well, it certainly sounds much better.

(UPDATED at 6:59pm)

Alright. I think we've finally got it.

If Bradford starts 8 games or more, Rams get Eagles 2016 2nd rounder. If he starts less, Philly gets Rams' 4th round. If he gets re-injured, Eagles get Rams' 3rd round pick. In other words, Rams are pretty much guaranteed to give up a 2016 NFL Draft pick.
