We had a ton of moves being made in the last week or so. Here are all the released players.
St. Louis Rams release Kendall Langford (DT, 29yo) - TST story
$6m on a backup DT isn't an expense the Rams can carry. He'll get work though. Best of luck!
Atlanta Falcons release Steven Jackson (RB, 31yo) - Falcoholic story
Feelings.
Atlanta Falcons release Harry Douglas (WR, 30yo) - Falcoholic story
3rd WRs don't usually hold a lot of job security. Will be interesting to see where he lands and how the Falcons stock up behind Julio Jones and Roddy White.
Baltimore Ravens release Chris Canty (DE, 32yo) - Baltimore Beatdown story
He's said he's not retiring, but that might be more up to time than his own wishes. Classy player will be a good locker room add.
Baltimore Ravens release Jacoby Jones (WR, 30yo) - Baltimore Beatdown story
Jones' role was almost exclusively limited to return duty in 2014. In 2013, he picked up nine starts and totaled 68 targets. Last year, he didn't start a single game and found only 18 targets. We'll have to see if the market values him as anything more than a return man.
Carolina Panthers release DeAngelo Williams (RB, 31yo) - Cat Scratch Reader story
End of an era stuff here. He's the Panthers' all-time rushing leader, and unless Jonathan Stewart picks up 2,000 more yards with Carolina, it'll stay that way for some time.
Indianapolis Colts release, Washington signs Ricky Jean-Francois (DT, 28yo) - Stampede Blue story, Hogs Haven story
RJF still has legs in him having started 23 games for the Colts the last two years. He'll give Washington some depth on a D-line that isn't filled with youth.
New York Giants release Mathias Kiwanuka (DE/OLB, 31yo) - Big Blue View story
Another end of an era move. Kiwanuka was the last Giant from Steve Spagnuolo's defense that helped him land a head coaching gig with the Rams (sorry for reminding you). Kiwanuka had knee surgery last year, so we'll have to see if he's committed to coming back given his age. But putting up 38.5 sacks over his career since being drafted by the GMen in 2006, he definitely leaves New York fans with fond memories.
New York Giants release Peyton Hillis (RB, 29yo) - Big Blue View story
2010 was ages ago in NFL years.
Green Bay Packers release A.J. Hawk (ILB, 31yo) - Acme Packing Co. story
Hawk really fell off in 2014 after having a very strong 2013. The key is that Hawk has been incredibly durable missing just two games in nine season with the Pack.
Detroit Lions release Reggie Bush (RB, 29yo) - Pride of Detroit story
Bush was lapped by Joique Bell as the starter in 2014. Someone will take a flier on him, but this feels like a Cadillac Williams to the Rams type situation.
Philadelphia Eagles release Todd Herremans (OL, 32yo) - Bleeding Green Nation story
The Toddfather was a jack of all trades on the Eagles' line having played at every spot for them except center. Not sure how much of an NFL future he's got, but he certainly made good for a 4th round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.
Kansas City Chiefs release Anthony Fasano (TE, 30yo) - Arrowhead Pride story
Fasano's in the tail end of a solid NFL career, but he'll have to work to get through roster cuts with a future employer. He's still useful with four touchdowns in 2014 (which is four more than any Chiefs receiver had...), but he's certainly not stretching the field as often as he did with the Dolphins.
Miami Dolphins release Brian Hartline (WR, 28yo) - Phinsider story
Hartline fell off after big seasons in 2012 and 2013, but the Dolphins were in a tough spot. Between Hartline, Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson, Miami's got tough decisions to make. They made one here. Hartline will give some solid middle of the field depth to whatever WR corps he joins.
(UPDATED UPDATE...at 2:45pm ET)
Cincinnati Bengals release Robert Geathers (DE, 31yo) - Cincy Jungle story
Eleven seasons all with the Bengals. If he's done, it's a heck of a career.
Cincinnati Bengals release Greg Little (WR, 25yo) - Cincy Jungle story
Little was hampered by injuries throughout the season, but the luster of his promising rookie season has completely faded. He'll likely make a camp, but it would be a hell of a comeback story if he's able to produce in 2015.
Minnesota Vikings release Charlie Johnson (OL, 30yo) - Daily Norseman story
Johnson's had a decent career with a stint in Indianapolis before moving to the Vikes where he's played 45 out of 48 games in the last three years at left guard. His performance hasn't been stellar, but considering the surroundings it would be asking a lot.
(UPDATED UPDATED UPDATE at 3:40pm ET)
Miami Dolphins release Brandon Gibson (WR, 27yo) - Phinsider story coming soon
Gibson had a contracted role with the Fins the last two years. He'll get picked up, but his NFL future may depend on the strength of the WR corps he joins.
(UPDATED UPDATED UPDATED UPDATE at 4:20pm ET...shoutout to DC)
Arizona Cardinals release Darnell Dockett (DT, 33yo) - Revenge of the Birds story
Didn't see this coming. Dockett tore his ACL back in August of last year, so his value at age isn't all that high. May be more to force a restructured deal, though I'd expect Dockett to take advantage of the opportunity to find out his market value.
