Random Ramsdom: November 30: St. Louis Rams - Time To Clip The Cardinals

Todd Gurley echoed my sentiments (on many levels) regarding the remainder of 2015: "gotta stay positive and keep fighting strong. We might not be a playoff team, but hey, we're still undefeated in the division. So we definitely look towards those games."

2016 NFL Mock Draft: Walter Football

Charlie Campbell updates his three round mock draft. The Rams select QB Connor Cook in the first round, WR Josh Doctson and C Max Tuerk in the second round and OLB Jordan Jenkins in the third round. Given the Rams' troubles at the QB position, should they consider drafting a QB in the first round?

Through Week 12, the Rams are tied for 11th in the league in Toxic Differential (+6). The Rams have dropped from plus +15 to plus +6 in the last three games (all losses). The top ten teams in Toxic Differential sport a combined 73-37 record after Week 12.

The expression "toxic differential" was coined by former NFL coach Brian Billick. Billick was head coach of the Baltimore Ravens for 9 seasons, and led them to a Super Bowl victory in the 2000 season.

From an article by Brian Billick for NFL.com in November, 2011:

"People are constantly looking for the right combination of stats to indicate the probable success of a team. What are the key factors to winning? Is it sacks, third-down conversions, first-down efficiency, the ability to run the ball and stop the run, total passing yards? All are important, but none are a precise indicator of success."

"Beginning in 1998, when I was the Vikings' offensive coordinator, I used a formula that I called the "toxic differential" as the best barometer for our team's success. Simply stated, the toxic differential is the correlation between turnovers and explosive plays."

CBS Sports Game Grades & Recap

Bengals 31, Rams 7
F Nick Foles threw the ball 46 times. Todd Gurley carried the ball nine times. That's a formula for disaster in St. Louis. It's probably safe to say that the Rams will never win a game where Foles is throwing it 36 more times than Gurley is running it.
A The Bengals might struggle in primetime games, but if you put them in an afternoon game, they dominate, which is exactly what they did on Sunday. A.J. Green caught two of Andy Dalton's three touchdown passes and the Bengals defense picked off Foles three times, which actually isn't that surprising because if Foles throws 46 passes, you almost expect him to get picked off at least three times. The biggest news for the Bengals is that they finally ended their two-game losing streak.

St. Louis Rams Current Roster & Depth Chart

An injury to kicker Greg Zuerlein forced the Rams to make a couple of roster moves this past week. Kicker Zach Hocker was signed to replace Zuerlein. To make room on the 53-man roster, the Rams released TE Justice Cunningham. If GZ is good to go this coming Sunday (and Cunningham clears waivers), the Rams will likely re-sign Cunningham to the 53-man roster later this week.
