The Kansas City Chiefs [2-5] will host the Detroit Lions [1-6] at Wembley stadium in the first matchup [9:30am ET] on Sunday morning in Week 8. The "home" Chiefs - looking for their third win of the season - open as three point favorites. The game will be aired on FOX with Sam Rosen, John Lynch, and Pam Oliver [field reporter] calling it.
The last time these two teams faced off - September 8, 2011 - the Lions trounced the Chiefs in Detroit, 48-3. Matthew Stafford threw for 294 yards and four touchdowns.
The last time they played with the Chiefs as a "home" team dates all the way back to 2003. The Chiefs won 45-17. Priest Holmes ran for 94 yards and three touchdowns on the day.
The Chiefs have also won four of the last six, and head coach Andy Reid is 3-1 all-time against the Lions. In their franchise[s] histories, they’ve faced off 12 times, with Kansas City having won seven.
At this point of the season, both teams now find themselves at the bottom of their division, and every game is a "must win" if they have hopes of righting the ship on their way to a potential playoff berth. It’ll be tough sledding - to put it mildly - as both teams dwell in divisions with undefeated [6-0] teams atop their division.
