Well, well. If it isn't the ol' NFL Draft. It's like that old ratty blanket you used to drag around with you as a kid. I don't know how to quit you, Draftie.
We're getting the ball rolling on the 2016 NFL Draft today with a fresh first-rounder from Dan Kadar of Mocking the Draft. More than anything, it's a good read just to get a sense of where many of the prospects' stock currently rests.
So who does Kadar have the Rams picking up?
Vernon Hargreaves, CB (Jr.) - Florida
The Rams have used a lot of high draft picks on defense, but still don't have that true shutdown cornerback. Hargreaves could be that player. He's the top cornerback in the draft but could slip a little because he doesn't have the most impressive size.
It's hard to knock the prospect alone right now. Hargreaves is balling out, yet again, and has helped Florida out to a surprising 5-0 start. If they can get by Missouri this weekend, an October 17 showdown in Baton Rouge with LSU will be must-see.
But as for the Rams, it's a bit hard to get behind a CB at this point. Perhaps with Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson both in contract years, there's a substitution draft selection to be made here. That's a pricy upgrade though when you look at the offense and some other components of the defense.
It's still so early, though, so nothing's really out of bounds. It's just time to get the draft ball rolling.
