The 1-2 St. Louis Rams are on the road to face the 3-0 Arizona Cardinals in a long-simmering NFC West physical battle.

The Rams are coming off of back-to-back losses that derailed the positive early momentum gained from a Week 1 season-opening win over the Seattle Seahawks. WR Brian Quick is set to make his 2015 debut, and rookie RB Todd Gurley shook the cobwebs off in his debut last week.

Arizona is perfect through three with successively impressive wins over the Saints, Bears and last Sunday's 47-7 walloping of the 49ers. The Cardinals look good. Real good.

If the Rams are going to get it done today, it's going to take more than the 8 points they're averaging on offense through the last two games. It's going to take more from the running game than the 25 yards on 15 carries Tre Mason and Todd Gurley combined for last weekend. It might well take a similar defensive output though, and that's a tall ask two weeks running against this competition.

The Rams are facing a potential spiral out of control. Today is the Rams' chance to face that spiral head on and determine their own fate.
