Kadar's back with a new mock scenario today in which Jameis Winston goes first overall. Let's take a look at the pre-Rams picks:
# | Team | Pick | POS | School |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Tampa Bay | Jameis Winston | QB | Florida St. |
2 | Tennessee | Marcus Mariota | QB | Oregon |
3 | Jacksonville | Leonard Williams | DL | USC |
4 | Oakland | Amari Cooper | WR | Alabama |
5 | Washington | Randy Gregory | DE | Nebraska |
6 | New York Jets | DeVante Parker | WR | Louisville |
7 | Chicago | Brandon Scherff | OT | Iowa |
8 | Atlanta | Dante Fowler | DE | Florida |
9 | Minnesota | La'el Collins | OT | LSU |
I said that Kadar's last mock was a bit of a dream scenario for the Rams. This is closer to the nightmare scenario. The top QBs are gone too high to move up to take, and you've lost the top two WRs and OTs each. Kadar's had the Rams going with Collins in each of his last two mocks though, so this time he switches us around to take:
Cedric Ogbeuhi (OT, Texas A&M)
Easy enough in terms of moving the board around with Collins gone. Ogbuehi's an interesting prospect having initially carved out a spot at guard back in 2012 while Luke Joeckel and Jake Matthews held down the tackle spots. He eventually moved to RT last year when Matthews slid over to LT and then took the spot himself this season (so yeah, keep an eye on RT Germain Ifedi...he'll likely be the LT as a RS junior next year in College Station). So versatility is definitely a defining trait for Ogbuehi.
If you continue on with Kadar's newest picks, he's got West Virginia WR Kevin White and Pittsburgh OT T.J. Clemmings following the Rams' pick. The run on offensive players is strong in this mock.
Also of note is that he's got two guards going in the first round. South Carolina's A.J. Cann goes at 23 to Detroit and FSU's Tre Jackson heads to New England at 31. If the Rams are looking for a first-year replacement for Davin Joseph, those two picks are going to sting. The second round would however start with the full center class available.
