St. Louis Rams - Minnesota Vikings "LIVE" Game Thread

Scott Rovak-USA TODAY Sports

The first game of the season will give Rams fans a chance to see if this defense is for real, and if a back up quarterback (sigh...) can lead this team. For Minnesota, they'll be sussing out a burgeoning quarterback controversy with Matt Cassell and Teddy Bridgewater...

Make no mistake: This game will be won or lost in the trenches for both teams. The Rams front four will have to dominate a underrated Vikings' offensive line led by tackle Matt Kalil. The match up to watch will be how Kalil can handle Rams' defensive end Robert Quinn. For the Rams, stopping Adrian Peterson will be key. If they can stop Peterson from rushing for over 200 yards - as he did the last time these two teams met - the Viking offense will be forced to go to the air against an improved Rams' secondary.

This game should be interesting, in that Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams can finally unveil just how "Kook-Koo for Coco Puffs" he really is, and let fly with bizarre blitz package. Don't be shocked if the Rams defense gets caught on a blitz for a long gain or score.

My final score prediction? Rams 27 - Viking 6 (In a man'o-a-man'o showdown between Zuerlein and Blair, both hit two 50+ yard field goals). Enjoy the game!
