The last time Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings saw the turf at the Edward Jones Dome, he chewed up 212 yards of it on his way to a 2,097-yard season. The St. Louis Rams didn't have many answers for him in the losing effort. But these are different teams taking the field at Noon Central Time on Sunday.
Mike Zimmer is leading the ship in Minnesota now, after an impressive stint as the Bengals defensive coordinator. On the sidelines with him is offensive coordinator Norv Turner, someone with a proven track record for coaxing big offensive efforts from his players.
The Rams have something different in the coaching department too: Gregg Williams. He was supposed to be here in 2012, but spent the year suspended. Fisher finally brought in his old buddy this spring, ramping up the energy and expectations for a defense loaded with young talent.

Quotable
"... the other big challenge, I think, is really it's from pregame warm-ups to kickoff because you really have to keep everybody focused. It's very emotional at the start of the game and our preference is to focus on your football. Just control your emotions and just go out and play football. You got a better chance executing early in the game than you do if you just go out there and get caught up in the emotions of the opener."
-- Head coach Jeff Fisher
Odds
Rams (-3.5); 43 O/U
The Rams are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games. However, they're only 2-11-1 against the spread in their last 14 season openers.
