2015 NFL Draft: Week 2 College Football

More college football=more future NFLers.

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Soak it in, folks. Today and next week have some strong scouting opportunities (to say nothing of the overall college implications) before a two-week stretch of pretty soft scheduling.

For the good times.

In any case, the pickings are a bit slim early. Your best options are either #4 Oklahoma at Tulsa or #24 Missouri at Toledo from the first group. The draft offerings aren't spectacular from either, but OU has draftable pairs at both outside linebacker and offensive tackle.

Once you get to the second run of games, it becomes a Pac-12 day. #14 USC is heading to #13 Stanford to kick off this week's watchlist.

#14 USC at #13 Stanford (ABC, 3:30pm)
Leonard Williams DL Jr. USC 1st
Nelson Agholor WR Jr. USC 1st-2nd
Josh Shaw CB RS Sr. USC 1st-3rd
Max Tuerk OL Jr. USC 2nd-4th
Aundrey Walker G Sr. USC 3rd-4th
Hayes Pullard ILB RS Sr. USC 3rd-5th
Antwuan Woods DT RS Jr. USC 3rd-5th
Chad Wheeler OT RS Soph. USC 3rd-5th
J.R. Tavai OLB Sr. USC 5th-7th
Kevon Seymour CB Jr. USC 5th-7th
Anthony Sarao OLB RS Jr. USC 5th-7th
Javorius Allen RB RS Jr. USC 5th-7th
Cody Kessler QB RS Jr. Stanford 5th-7th
Andrus Peat OT Jr. Stanford 1st
Ty Montgomery WR Sr. Stanford 1st-2nd
Kevin Hogan QB RS Jr. Stanford 2nd-4th
Wayne Lyons CB RS Jr. Stanford 2nd-4th
Jordan Richards SS Sr. Stanford 3rd-5th
James Vaughters OLB Sr. Stanford 4th-6th
Alex Carter CB Jr. Stanford 4th-6th
Kodi Whitfield FS Jr. Stanford 4th-6th
Joshua Garnett G Jr. Stanford 4th-6th
A.J. Tarpley ILB RS Sr. Stanford 6th-UD
Henry Anderson DL RS Sr. Stanford 6th-UD
Kevin Anderson OLB RS Jr. Stanford 6th-UD
Kyle Murphy OT Jr. Stanford 6th-UD
Devon Cajuste WR RS Jr. Stanford 6th-UD
Blake Lueders DE RS Sr. Stanford 7th-UD

Tons of potential talent here including a solid number of day one and two guys that could impact NFL teams on day one. With Peat and Williams, the obvious look is the Stanford O-line against the USC defensive front, but I'm also interested in the USC passing attack against the Stanford secondary.

If you're wedded to SEC ball, Ole Miss-Vanderbilt kicks off an hour after that and could be fun if only for the turnovers. All in all from the draft's perspective, it's worth taking in the big California showdown above before getting to the day's marquee matchup.

#7 Michigan St. at #3 Oregon (FOX, 6:30pm)
Shilique Calhoun DE RS Jr. Michigan St. 1st
Kurtis Drummond FS RS Sr. Michigan St. 1st-2nd
Trae Waynes CB RS Jr. Michigan St. 1st-2nd
Connor Cook QB RS Jr. Michigan St. 2nd-3rd
Taiwan Jones ILB Sr. Michigan St. 3rd-5th
Jeremy Langford RB RS Sr. Michigan St. 4th-5th
Jack Conklin OT RS Soph. Michigan St. 4th-6th
Josiah Price TE RS Soph. Michigan St. 4th-6th
Tony Lippett WR RS Sr. Michigan St. 5th-7th
Mike Sadler P RS Sr. Michigan St. 6th-UD
R.J. Williamson SS RS Jr. Michigan St. 6th-UD
Jack Allen C RS Jr. Michigan St. 7th-UD
Ifo Ekpre-Olomu CB CB Oregon 1st
Marcus Mariota QB RS Jr. Oregon 1st
Hroniss Grasu C RS Sr. Oregon 1st-2nd
Tony Washington OLB RS Sr. Oregon 2nd-4th
Jake Fisher OT Sr. Oregon 2nd-5th
Tyler Johnstone (i) OT RS Jr. Oregon 2nd-5th
Rodney Hardrick ILB RS Jr. Oregon 3rd-4th
Arik Armstead DE Jr. Oregon 4th-6th
Derrick Malone, Jr. OLB RS Sr. Oregon 4th-6th
Byron Marshall RB Jr. Oregon 4th-6th
Bralon Addison (i) WR Jr. Oregon 4th-6th
DeForest Buckner DL Jr. Oregon 5th-7th
Alex Balducci DT Jr. Oregon 5th-7th
Hamani Stevens G RS Sr. Oregon 7th-UD

This is a game we'll be pointing to next spring when we're looking at these guys going into the combine and draft. The obvious battle here is Oregon's offense against MSU's defense even after sending standout cornerback Darqueze Dennard to the Bengals in round one. It is unfortunate though that Oregon is without Johnstone and Addison, two key offensive parts that not only would have had a big impact here but also would have had plenty of NFL attention.Don't completely ignore the other side of things though. Connor Cook is a legit early draft option right now; a strong performance today might have round 1 buzz picking up. Of course that will require him to deal with my top corner in the draft, Oregon's Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. MSU can't Richard Sherman him and just ignore him all game, so it'll be a major factor in the game to see who wins that battle.

The schedule REALLY thins out after that aside from three games. You can take in the 7:30 Michigan-#16 Notre Dame contest. There might not be a better game featuring two unranked teams than BYU-Texas. I went with the third for the watchlist.

Virginia Tech at #8 Ohio St. (ESPN, 8:00pm)
Luther Maddy DT Sr. Va. Tech 2nd-4th
Kyshoen Jarrett SS Sr. Va. Tech 2nd-4th
Trey Edmunds RB RS Soph. Va. Tech 4th-6th
Detrick Bonner FS RS Sr. Va. Tech 6th-UD
Demitri Knowles WR RS Jr. Va. Tech 6th-UD
Joshua Stanford WR RS Soph. Va. Tech 6th-UD
Dadi Nicolas 3-4 OLB RS Jr. Va. Tech 7th-UD
A.J. Hughes P Jr. Va. Tech 7th-UD
Michael Bennett DT Sr. Ohio St. 1st
Noah Spence OLB Jr. Ohio St. 1st-2nd
Doran Grant CB Sr. Ohio St. 1st-2nd
Adolphus Washington DT Jr. Ohio St. 2nd-5th
Tyvis Powell FS RS Soph. Ohio St. 3rd-5th
Joshua Perry OLB Jr. Ohio St. 3rd-6th
Jeff Heuerman TE Sr. Ohio St. 4th-6th
Curtis Grant LB Sr. Ohio St. 4th-6th
Braxton Miller (i) QB RS Sr. Ohio St. 4th-6th
Devin Smith WR Sr. Ohio St. 6th-UD

The Big Ten is having a down era right now, but don't expect that to last too much longer. With that being the case for now though, there's not a ton of out of conference battles that look all that enticing. This is one. After taking a while to put the game against Navy away last week, this game looks much less certain. If tOSU can get the win, they should coast for the the next month and a half until their schedule picks up. If they drop this one, the luster might begin to wear off of Urban Meyer. Ohio St. should win the line battles pretty easily, but Tech has speed. My kind of matchup.
