Football is back. Sort of. Preseason football returns to the national stage tonight with the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. This year's game features the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills in an all-Empire State tilt that should feature mostly scrubs by the second quarter.
But don't let the notion of exhibition football dampen your enthusiasm. Every Sunday between now and February has football, so that's a good sign.
A few things to watch tonight:
- Sammy Watkins has been tearing it up in camp. He was one possible draft pick for the Rams this year.
- Eli Manning might not play much more than a series or two, but watch how sharp he looks, or doesn't look. The Giants made one of those dump training camp promises about Eli completing 70 percent of his passes this season. If he's going to get over 60 percent, he'll have to play better than he did last year.
- How do the Bills linebackers look without Kiko Alonso?
- The Giants have been bitten by the injury bug in camp, so their depth chart will get a long look in this one.
