It’s no secret the Rams have been in search of a legitimate pass-catching, deep threat receiver for the better part of the past decade.  Depth is something they have; finding consistent production within that will be key.  The 49ers, however, do not.

The San Francisco 49ers' third-leading receiver the past three seasons have caught 25, 41 and 20 passes. And those were by fullback Bruce Miller, tight end Vernon Davis and a receiver/kick returner (Kyle Williams) who is no longer in the NFL.

Sunday Ticket Available Without Satellite Subscription:  CBS Sports

While DirecTV will offer a new NFL Sunday Ticket channel exclusively devoted to fantasy football, you might not have to sign up for the satellite provider in order to see any NFL game you'd like.

That's because appleinsider.com reports that the 2014 season package will be offered on Apple iOS devices that can be watched without an actual DirecTV subscription.


Before 2014 camps open around the league next week, here are five veterans to watch as potential holdouts, ranked by likelihood of sitting out for the start.  Note the pair of 49ers and one relatively important Seahawks’ running back.


This series wraps up with the most important people attached to any organization – the fans. Without them, there’s no reason to play the game. And without the right group of them, it’s very difficult for a team to succeed. Fans provide a home-field advantage, create the buzz that makes a franchise attractive to free agents and provide motivation by being just the right degree of demanding.
