St. Louis Rams trade up, select Lamarcus Joyner with the 41st pick

You knew it wouldn't be a St. Louis Rams draft with Les Snead if there wasn't a trade. And the Rams swung a deal with the Buffalo Bills moved up from pick No. 44 to No. 41 to select safety LaMarcus Joyner. They got their safety.

A Florida State product that played on the national championship team last season, part of a tough defense that helped bring the trophy to Tallahassee. And what kind of safety is he? Glad you asked.

Out of the famed Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas School, Joyner has been one of the best players in the state of Florida since 2007. The former 5-star was one of Jimbo Fisher's first huge signings, and many elite players followed him to Talahassee. He excelled at both safety and corner for Florida State, and was almost always the fastest player on the field, a true heat-seeking missile despite not always having the best 40-yard dash times. FSU's coaches loved Joyner from the moment they laid eyes on him, and he is an example of how truly special players can overcome their lack of size. Joyner also has the arms of a much taller player.
