With every prospect except for Jadeveon Clowney available, the St. Louis Rams have selected offensive tackle Greg Robinson with the second overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
It was something we were prepared for with months of mock drafts, a significant portion of which had this very pick. Now, it's reality.
The Rams have shored up the offensive line by dding the physicality and aggression Robinson has shown to the depth chart. There's a question as to where he fits in with Jake Long recovering from his injury that took him out of the starting left tackle spot and Joe Barksdale having filled in well. Nevertheless, the coaching staff and especially offensive line coach Paul T. Boudreau will be eager to get GRob into camp and make immediate use of the Auburn product. Mocking the Draft had the scouting report on Robinson back in February.
Now begins the difficulty of keeping tabs, and properly assessing, the moves between here and 13. Surely, there are trades to come. The Rams staff, in all likelihood, has some conditions in place for trading...both up from 13 and back deeper into the first round. That's all dependent on what names come off of their big board in the next several picks.
Don't get turned off now. We're just getting started.
For now, though, the Rams are one player deeper. And hopefully, one player better in Greg Robinson.
