Word is coming out that Stedman Bailey is receiving a four game suspension from the league.
The @NFL is suspending #Rams WR Stedman Bailey for 4 games for violating the league’s policy on performing enhancing substance, source says— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 12, 2014
Rapaport's next tweet touched on the nature of the suspension.
The word from source close to #Rams WR Stedman Bailey is that he did not take any performance enhancing substances. No word on what he took— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 12, 2014
Many wanted the Rams to take a wide receiver in the draft and even Bailey getting suspended didn't persuade them into doing so.
#Rams did not draft a WR in this weekend’s #NFLDraft, even with Stedman Bailey’s looming suspension. They have known for several months— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 12, 2014
I won't jump to any conclusions on the nature of the substance, but this is a blow to the Rams. After stepping up his play towards the end of the year, Bailey looked to be emerging as a top target for Sam Bradford. The Rams receiving core is near the bottom in the league in terms of talent and production and losing Bailey for four games won't do anything to help the situation.
I want to be clear that I’ve never taken any performance enhancing products. I acknowledge that a violation of league policy occurred and..— STEDMAN BAILEY SR (@iamSB3) May 12, 2014
