The St. Louis Rams used their first pick of four in the seventh round to select offensive tackle Mitchell Van Dyk from Portland State.
Offensive line depth is always a need, especially for the Rams who have been rocked by injuries to that unit over the years. Finding diamonds in the rough has been a specialty of this coaching staff, thanks to offensive line coach Paul Boudreau.
Coach Boo has a raw player in Van Dyk, but a guy who did start for three years in college. He's not considered to be much of a pass blocker. What he does do is play the run well. He'll get a shot in camp to prove he can stick or at least land on the team's eight-man practice squad after camp ends.
Van Dyk also happens to be 6'9. A very large man indeed.
Will the Rams use their remaining picks to move around in the seventh?
