Sam Bradford’s Four GIFts From the 2013 Season

Sam Bradford played less than half of the 2013 NFL season. He’d thrown 14 touchdowns and four interceptions before suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 7. His interceptions were far from ordinary.

A season-ending knee injury sidelined St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford prior to the conclusion of their Week 7 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Unfortunately, he was also having the best start to a season in his young career. Bradford had thrown 14 touchdowns, and only four interceptions.

Let’s have a closer look at those…very unordinary… picks.

vs. Cardinals [Week 1]

10:40 left in the 3rd Qtr
Rams up 13-10
2nd and 10 on Own 7yd line
Pass Intended for Lance Kendricks

at Falcons [Week 2]

11:41 left in the 2nd Qtr
Rams down 14-0
1st and 10 on Falcons’ 32yd linePass Intended for Daryl Richardson
Picked of by Osi Umenyiora [returned 68 yards for the score]

vs. 49ers [Week 4]

4:05 left in 2nd Qtr
Rams down 7-3
3rd and 1 on 49ers 33yd line
Pass Intended for Brian Quick
Picked off by Donte Whitner [touchback]

at Panthers [Week 7]

14:54 left in the 1st Qtr
Game tied 0-0
1st and 10 on Own 22yd line
Pass Intended for Brian Quick
Picked off by Captain Munnerlyn [returned 45 yards for the score]

A few interesting things to note about these picks:

* On two of the INT’s [Cardinals and Falcons] - both of which resulted in touchdowns - the football never made it past the line of scrimmage.
* Of Bradford’s four INT’s, three of them resulted in touchdowns for the opposition.
* On the two INT’s where the ball did go past the line of scrimmage [way past], the ball was intended for Brian Quick

What do YOU see? Which ones do you pin on Bradford? Which would you blame on a receiver not being able to use his size to stop and attack the ball at it’s highest point, highlighting why the Rams need to draft another receiver early in the draft?
