The NFL Hall of Fame released their semifinalist candidates for the 2015 class, and there are some notable Rams on the list.
Obviously, the Greatest Show on Turf members stand out. With Marshall Faulk already in the HoF, four of his teammates from the era are on the list: Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Orlando Pace and Kurt Warner. Two other former Rams, Kevin Greene and Jerome Bettis, made the cut. You might find it odd, as I did, that the release on the team site inexplicably avoided any mention of Bettis.
Strange pettiness aside, it's a tough list to assess. Bruce holds many of the Rams' franchise records, including receptions, receiving yards and yards from scrimmage. He's second in all-time touchdowns for the Rams behind Faulk. Holt was the statistical leader for the first decade of the 21st century in nearly every category. Pace was one of the best tackles in the history of the league and has perhaps the best chance of the remaining GSOT members. And Warner, well, QBs aren't lacking for publicity.
The committee will now meet to chose 15 candidates among the 26. Those 15, along with two candidates from before the modern era, will make the final ballot which will be announced in early January. The final vote will take place Jan. 31, 2015, the day before the Super Bowl and be announced that evening.
