What does five field goals get you? The NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award if you're Greg Zuerlein.
GZ's 15 points, from 37, 29, 22, 55 and 53 yards, helped add to the Rams' early touchdown and cemented their 22-7 win over the Broncos. Those two 50+-yard kicks came in the fourth quarter and perhaps assuaged the concerns of Rams fans who have had recent worries about Zuerlein's performance.
Here are the notes that went along with Zuerlein's award:
That's a hell of a day for any kicker. It's also something we've come to take for granted, I think.
For all the stumbles he's had throughout his three-year career, he remains one of the most capable kickers in the league. Last year, he was fifth in the NFL in FG percentage missing only two kicks all season. He had that tough back-to-back in late October this year, but let's hope that was a blip on the screen.
The Rams might very well need GZ to come up big if they're going to stay in the mix.
