This is called "making a statement."

Fisher has offered a lot of words about holding players accountable for silly penalties. Armstrong release is a needed sign of action.

In one season plus four games, Armstrong committed nine penalties, eight on special teams.

Overall, Fisher said he's disappointed in play of special teams this season.

Fisher also said penalty problems with Armstrong had been addressed multiple times and when he continues to play it becomes "my fault."

Jeff Fisher isn't dumb. And he's not new to this.
We'll have to see how/if this resonates throughout the team, but I'd guess the response would be "message received."
