Percy Harvin to the Jets: It's an Early Christmas For St. Louis!

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

Er, uh? What happened? I step away to refold my socks, and this? Harvin, an "all-everything" player, Seattle shipped a 2013 1st and 7th round pick - plus a 2014 3rd rounder - to Minnesota for, has a new home with the New York Jets. Now while I'm feigning dismay for my Seahawks friends, this trade couldn't have come at a better time for the St. Louis Rams, who face Seattle this Sunday.

I'll leave Fieldgulls to sort out just why Harvin is suddenly gone from a team rather weak in the wide receiver department. Who am I to complain, right? Harvin was the only receiver on Seattle's roster who could continue the Janoris Jenkins "burn 'em deep" trend.

In an interesting twist, I've read some of the media mavens think Harvin was traded for a number of reasons; one of them being he's a guy who only works if they game plan for him...? Really? REALLY! Is it really that big a burden to throw a few plays together for a special kind of athlete? If so, it would explain why Jeff Fisher and Co. have had so much trouble finding a way to use Tavon Austin...
