Jaguars vs. Rams: St. Louis favored by 12 points in opening odds

A visit by the Jaguars could be just what the Rams need.

Scott Rovak-USA TODAY Sports

The St. Louis Rams have been offering struggling teams a free tune up for the last three weeks, the perfect practice squad team. That could change in Week 5 when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit St. Louis. With less than a week to go before the game, the Rams are favored by 12 points, well, 11 1/2 really, according to Odds Shark.

The Jaguars opened as 7 1/2 point underdogs. That line moved to it's current 11 1/2 points following Jacksonville's 37-3 loss on Sunday to the Colts. That's how bad it is for Gus Bradley's team right now. At the current rate, the Jags are on pace to be record-setting 26-point underdogs to the Broncos in Week 6 (related, who the hell made Denver's schedule this year?).

A 12-point line says more about the Jaguars than the Rams, but don't laugh. St. Louis' record against the spread matches its place in the standings at 1-3. In fact, the Rams are 1-4 against the spread in their last five regular season games.

If ever there was a must-win game for the Rams, not getting humiliated at home by the Jacksonville Jaguars is it.
