Well this is interesting.
Less than a week after Rodger Saffold sprained his MCL on Sunday to help rehab the shoulder he dislocated in the preseason ceding the RT playing time to Joe Barksdale, the Rams have made two moves at the tackle position.
Earlier this week, the Rams plucked Mike Person from the Seahawks' off waivers. It seemed like a depth meant to provide a body in case of another injury at OT. News that the Rams were working out former Steeler Max Starks was largely brushed off, understandably, with the signing of Person.
But every action has a reaction or something like that. I don't read a ton of psychology.
The Rams have signed Starks to a one-year deal.
I'm not sure where the Rams are going with this one. Starks, by all accounts, looked finished in San Diego this preseason. Granted the staff is understandably in a position where taking a shot on a guy like Starks makes sense given his experience and former high level of play, so it can't hurt a ton. Still...a 10th-year tackle who's played his way through two teams?
Hard to see this one sticking.
