Late College Open Thread: September 14

The schedule peaked early today, but there's plenty of football left on the calendar.

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

I'm writing this as the second half of Bama-A&M is just getting underway. Don't check out on college for the evening slate. The remaining contests may not have the college-tier impact of the big one right now, but for NFL implications, there's plenty left.

#4 Ohio St. at Cal (7:00 p.m., FOX)

Not a great matchup, but tOSU's non-conference schedule is as weak as you'll find in the top 10. Cal's a bit light for the 2014 NFL Draft outside of DT Deandre Coleman, but the Buckeyes are going to bring a stable. CB Bradley Roby and OLB Ryan Shazier both look the part of possible 1st rounders while FS C.J. Barnett and OT Jack Mewhort could feature on day 2.

#21 Notre Dame at Purdue (8:00 p.m., ABC)

If you're not into OSU-Cal, you've got a Notre Dame beatdown comin down in all likelihood that should feature plenty of guys.

#25 Ole Miss at Texas (8:00 p.m., The Longhorn Network)

Does the Longhorn Network actually exist? I'm not so sure. Between the meltdown at UT and the freshman class at Ole Miss, this could be a lot of fun. Too bad only 100 people in eastern Maine will get to see it.

#20 Wisconsin at Arizona St. (10:30 p.m., ESPN)

Good late night Big 10-Pac 12 matchup. ASU DL Will Sutton is a beast. I don't want to see him in the NFC West. OLB Carl Bradford is emerging. And you know Wisconsin is gonna push O linemen to the NFL. OT Ryan Groy looks the part, and Rob Havenstein looks like he could play any position on the line. He's got a year of eligibility, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him jump.
