The Cleveland Browns open up the 2013 preseason at home on Thursday, hosting the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night.
The Browns enter the season with yet another new coaching staff. Rob Chudzinski is the new head coach, while defensive coordinator Ray Horton is moving to the 3-4. The Browns signed Desmond Bryant and Paul Kruger and drafted Barkevious Mingo to help with the transition. On the offensive side, Norv Turner will try to get something out of Brandon Weeden, who is already facing a make-or-break year in just his second season. Trent Richardson is dealing with a shin injury and will likely sit the game out.
The Rams spent big on offense, signing Jared Cook and Jake Long and drafting Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey to pair with Austin Pettis and Chris Givens. The big question mark in preseason will be in the backfield. Longtime stalwart Steven Jackson is now in Atlanta, so it will come down to either Daryl Richardson or Isaiah Pead to fill his shoes. The starter may not be decided until the end of preseason, so it will be interesting to see how the carries are split up between these two. Rookie Zac Stacy is a potential wild card.
